This is where the conductor did his paperwork during the trip.
Heat in the winter was provided by the stove. Originally the stove was coal fired and later oil fired.
Water was stored in the tank hanging from the ceiling.
The train crew could heat a pot of coffee or cook a small meal.
The caboose was provided with a hopper so the crew could go to the restroom. It dumped directly on the tracks.
The caboose was equipped with an emergency air valve that could be used to stop the train.
